Business Development Manager-Meeting Planning-Third-Party Provider

Chicago meeting planning and incentive company seeks experiencedBusiness Development Manager to contribute to the gross revenue and gross profit of the meeting planning company. Candidate will prospect, present, close and grow key accounts from Fortune 500 and 1000 companies throughout the U.S.
Our client is an established meeting planning company that provides global and full service logistics planning along with operating expertise. These include off-site meeting/events, sales/incentive programs, big pharma-meetings and product launches. Events and programs are located both indomestic and international locations. Some potential domestic and international travel including travel over weekends may be required.
Our client has been recognized for excellence in meeting and exceeding customer expectations along with creativity and maximizing budget dollars.
-Bachelor’s degree plus 10 years of relevant experience in direct sales such as meeting planning sales or other service industry sales.
-Must have skills in business development or account management.
-Exceptional verbal and written communication skills are needed.
-Motivated and a “self-starter”. Client welcomes new marketing and/or sales ideas.
-Experience and demonstrated ability to perform in a dynamic, cross-functional team based environment.
-Formal course sales training completion is a plus.
-Able to grow major accounts through incremental or year over year acquisition of new business.
-Excellent working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook.
-Must have experience with salesforce.com- client management program a plus.
-Account planning and strategy

-Maintain current knowledge of industry pitch stories, trends, and examples.
-Design value based solutions to address client needs.
-Some potential domestic and international travel including travel over weekends may be required.
-Work with team members to update collateral, web presence, blogs, white papers, etc.
Breakout of Responsibilities:
Sales research – 20%
Make qualifying calls and send and follow up on qualifying calls, letters, teasers, etc. – 40%
Developing and presenting capabilities presentations and proposal presentations – 20%
Developing and implementing marketing ideas in order to build lead generation; networking – 20%
